Ken's Entrance Hall

Ken's entrance hall is spacious and practical with a rack for his racing bike, a Nelson style bench to hold extra books and magazines, a series 7 Jacobson chair and of course of piece of artwork to tie together all the coloured elements. An ikea rug covers the teak floor.

Ken's Mid Century inspired Living Room

Ken's friend, Architect Barbie has designed Ken's house. These are some views of the living room.

A view from the mezzanine gives an overall impression of the space.

Architect Barbie was inspired by the Australian architect , Robin Boyd for this part of the house.

Like Robin Boyd's own house this room has been designed for conversation. Herman Miller style arm chairs and a long bench provide comfortable and flexible seating.

Architect Barbie also selected a Herman Miller style modular wall unit to hold Ken's retro TV and hi fi system. The round circle detail on the end component houses the speaker.

Ken collects Australian art, Jeffery Smart is a particular favourite along with John Bracks. He is planning on adding to his collection as his business develops.

Barbie's interest in architecture influences Ken's reading. Included in his collection are several books by Robin Boyd.

The colour scheme for this room features Dulux 'self destruct' walls, blond coloured furniture, a cherry red felted rug and Creation Baumann, argyle pattern upholstery in shades of water melon, beige and pale grey. A pale grey pure wool cushion from Larsen, picks up the colour of Doris the kitten.

Of course Ernest the spaniel is always on the look out for food. The Herman Miller style slat bench is definitely doggie height.
